It has been 2 1/2 years since my mom passed, and the challenge of dealing with a broken-heart dad ended. After 60 years of marriage and company, he felt alone; but now, they are together again, and in a mansion in heaven. This past week, my dad went home to be with the Lord. The pain is indescribable but God has given the family strength and hope. A hope that only comes from knowing "....what will happen to the believers who have died so you [we] will not grieve like people who have no hope" 1Thessalonians 4:13 NLT.
In the middle of the crisis, my brother-in-law David, asked God to show him exactly where he was. In a dream that night, he saw a hill country covered in grass as green as emerald, and tulips that were as tall as people. The colors were strong and bright and there was a big mansion at the foot of a mountain. As he was approaching the mansion, a young and agile dad (he passed at 90 yrs of age) came out of the house and from the door, welcomed him. When David realized he was in heaven, he woke up with a pretty fast heartbeat. He drew us a picture of what he saw (did what he could given the circumstances) and sent it to us. When I think of my dad, this is what I see, and it gives me peace and joy.

The Bible says "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 1Corinthians 15:55. Death is the last enemy we all have to face BUT...Jesus defeated death for you. So it doesn't have to be a tragedy or the end of the world or the beginning of depression or despair. We WILL see our loved ones again. Tears of sadness today will become tears of joy when seen from God's perspective. Is it easy? No...BUT...."I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength". Phillipians 4:13 NLT.
This is how they look now in heaven. I miss them terribly, but I will see them again. Love you!
